Black Knight Titan

Boss found in The Bastion. Weak to Crush and Water.

About

The Black Knight Titan waits at the bottom of Dowdun Reach, past the Bastion, and the fight is tuned for power level 6 gear: mithril, blue dragonhide or mystic. He resists slashing and fire and is immune to burning, and he is weak to water. That decides the kit: a crush weapon such as the Mithril Mace rather than the black greataxe, water rune damage or enchanted iron bolts for casters and crossbows, and no fire arrows. The Dragoncurse Shield is worth carrying because it damages him when you parry.

You can't cast Summon Shelter in the Bastion, so rest before you go down, and unlock the lodestone there so you can come back. Pack Stuffed Catfish (200 health a bite), Undead Delight or Eggs Royale for Sea Life regeneration, one infusion, an Antifire Potion for the second half, and a Whetstone or Magical Focus with the matching lesser potion if you're on Hard. The Amulet of Defence or Amulet of Strength are the safe trinkets; the Unholy Symbol adds 15% damage of every kind at the cost of 15 maximum health, and a Ring of Life pulls you out at 10% health if a combo goes wrong.

He opens with a leap across the room that ends in an unblockable slam: dodge it or hold Tempest Shield, a normal shield does nothing. His melee is one to three swings; the overheads can't be blocked without Tempest Shield but step aside easily, and the third swing of a three-swing chain is the moment to breathe. Learn the two tells. Hilt in both hands, feet planted and standing straight means Earthquake: a slam, then a wider crack that explodes a moment later. Being clipped by the slam staggers you into the explosion, so back out as soon as you see the stance; sprinting out costs less than dodging. Hilt in both hands with the right knee bent means Stone Edge: the slam, then a shockwave that curves toward you. Dodge sideways, never backwards.

Around 60% health he sets the sword on fire. Every hit now applies burning, Earthquake becomes Eruption (four rings of fire spreading out from the slam, run a circle around him and cut inward between rings), Stone Edge becomes Lava Edge (the shockwave leaves lava that burns you even through a block, which is why sideways was the habit to build), and he gains Firestorm, a hanging black hole that throws fiery darts across the arena four times. Darts are easier to dodge from distance; melee and crossbow users can get two hits in after the first and third volley. He drops the broken Titan's Wrath, which is the blade you later forge. To fight him again, stand in the arena for 55 seconds and the Titan Seal returns.

Journal

The Dreaming Stone had been shattered.

Lord Rasmodel, on his knees, heard no voices. For the first time in too, too long, he could hear his own breath. His heart played a welcome beat. For decades, he had felt like he floated above the world. Now he was part of it again.

Footsteps. Lord Rasmodel lifted his head wearily. Who would interrupt this moment?

Ringing around him was his family. The Rasmodels. They were all there - all the ones he knew, loved and had met. They were dressed as the finest nobility, the Rasmodels at their height. They had regained their standing - the name meant something again.

His father knelt down and lifted Lord Rasmodel's bloody chin. Their eyes met. "Rest," his father said. "We will take it from here."

Milliburn Rasmodel, twenty-fifth Lord of Rasmodel, took his retirement.
