The questions people search for about RuneScape: Dragonwilds, answered in one place: platforms, crossplay, price, release dates, player counts and servers.
The game
What platforms is RuneScape: Dragonwilds on?
Steam and the Jagex Launcher on Windows, the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch 2. From 15 April 2025 to 15 September 2026 it was a Steam-only Early Access game; the console versions arrived with the 1.0 release. There is no Mac or Linux client.
Does it have crossplay?
Yes between PC and the consoles, but not cross-saves: your world and character stay on the platform you made them on.
When did it come out?
Early Access on Steam on 15 April 2025, full 1.0 release on 15 September 2026 across every platform. This site reads game version 1.0.1.1, Steam build 25994193.
How much does it cost?
$29.99 on Steam in the US, 30% off on 2026-10-20. Console and Epic prices match at launch; there are Digital Deluxe and Physical Deluxe editions as well.
Is it an MMO?
No. It is a co-op survival game for one to four players on a shared world, in the RuneScape setting and with RuneScape's skills, but each world is yours or a friend's, not a server full of strangers.
How many people can play together?
Up to four in a hosted world, and up to six on a dedicated server.
Are there dedicated servers?
Yes. The dedicated server is a free Steam tool (app 4019830, or steamcmd with +app_update 4019830) that runs on 64-bit Windows or Linux and needs 2 GB of RAM plus 1 GB per player, 8 GB for the full six. It listens on UDP 7777 (and 7778 for a second instance), so those ports have to be forwarded. The config file (Saved/Config/Linux/DedicatedServer.ini, copied to WindowsServer on Windows) needs your Player ID as owner, a server name, a default world name and an admin password; a world password is optional. Shockbyte rents hosted ones from about $10 a month for two players.
How many people are playing?
8,877 on Steam at the moment this page was built (2026-10-20); Steam's charts have the live figure.
What engine is it on, and what does it need?
Unreal Engine 5.6. Jagex lists a DirectX 11 or 12 graphics card, 16 GB of RAM and an eight-core CPU.
Where is it set?
Ashenfall, a continent hidden since the First Age, during the Sixth Age of Gielinor. You arrive with an expedition that includes the Wise Old Man, Vannaka, Zanik and Doric, and the main story is Kuldra's Saga: five main quests from Dragon Slayer to Regicide against the dragon queen and her generals.
How big is the game?
1,267 items, 1,032 recipes, 138 creatures, 58 quests, 789 building pieces, 12 skills and 31 regions in six areas, all read from the game files for this site.
On this site
What is dragonwilds.gg?
A database and map for the game, built from the game files rather than typed in by hand: every item with its recipe and drops, every creature with its loot table and spawn points, every quest with its objectives and a walkthrough, the skills and their perks, the building pieces, and an interactive map of Ashenfall with ten thousand markers. The tools plan builds, crafting runs and skill levels from the same data.
How current is the data?
Game version 1.0.1.1, Steam build 25994193. Each page's footer carries the same stamp; when a patch lands the data is re-read and the site rebuilt.
