Cook's Assistant

Help Slopfinger in Ghornfell bake a memorable cake for Manktongue.

Slopfinger, in the south-west of the Fractured Plains by the Stormtouched border, wants to prove himself to Manktongue with a cake. Four eggs, seven wheat and a bucket of milk, baked on his stove, and you walk away with the Victoria sponge recipe. You need Farming unlocked and some wheat for it.

Steps

5
  1. 1

Gather 4 eggs, 6 wheat and a bucket of milk, and bring them all to Slopfinger.

The milk is the easy part: the cow in the pen outside gives it willingly if you talk through every option and feed it a wheat, so don't try to milk it. Eggs are from chickens in Bramblemead Valley or Temple Woods (or bird nests from felled trees), and wheat seeds come from goblin packs and chests, so a lodestone at the cabin saves the walk back.

  2. 2

Bake a cake using the stove next to Slopfinger.

Bake the cake on the stove beside Slopfinger.

  3. 3

Bring the signed cake to Manktongue.

    Show the cake to Manktongue.

  4. 4

Show Slopfinger the freshly cooked cake.

    Show it to Slopfinger.

  5. 5

    Give Slopfinger the good news.

    Give him the good news.

On completion

Goblin chefs are surprisingly good at cakes, who would have guessed? Not me, that's for sure.

Tips

Seven wheat, not six: one is for the cow.

Dialogue (142 lines)

Manktongue: That's certainly a stove.

Slopfinger: Need any help with da stuff?

Cow: The Dairy Cow gives you the side-eye.

Slopfinger: Blimey, I seen a lot of hoomans, but ain't you a big 'un?

Slopfinger: Howdy, lankylegs.

Slopfinger: Much obliged for yer 'elp.

Manktongue: Tell 'Slopfinger he's earned himself a raise.

Manktongue: You given Slopfinger da news about da raise?

Slopfinger: Chicken or terrorbird eggs will do. We don't need to get too fancy.

Slopfinger: It's not my for-tay, but I believe it involves farmin'.

Slopfinger: You'll need to milk a Dairy Cow. I don't advise milkin' anything else.

Slopfinger: We all need help. But you work that out for yoursel'.

Cow: The Dairy Cow gives you the side-eye.

Cow: The cow looks supremely confident within its own body. It's to be admired, really.

Cow: The Dairy Cow permits you to milk her.

Slopfinger: Name is Slopfinger. I work for Manktongue ova there. I'm his cook, assistant, butler, mass-ooze and hype-goblin.

Manktongue: Hop to it! Fortune waits for no gobber.

Manktongue: Slopfinger said that I need 4 eggs, 6 wheat and a bucket of milk to bake the cake.

Slopfinger: I'll want four of da blighters, so that the cake will rise as high as my blood pressure.

Slopfinger: Find some wheat seeds and a farmin' patch, and do whatever it is that farmers do. Remember, we need 6 lots of wheat.

Slopfinger: Findin' a dairy cow is the problem. Not so many of them round Ghornfell.

Slopfinger: See ya later.

Cow: The cow turns its head expectedly.

Cow: The Dairy Cow gives you a kick to the shins.

Cow: The cow rolls its eyes but blushes a little.

Cow: It's smooth, like a wide, hornless unicorn.

Cow: The Dairy Cow notes that you have no inventory space and rolls her eyes. You will need to come back when you have room for a bucket of milk.

Slopfinger: Not that he notices me. Yesterday I was crackin' 'is back an' he called me Sweatmonger. Sweatmonger!

Manktongue: Go away. I gots nothin for yas.

Slopfinger: You won't need to make flour or anythin'. I like my cakes to look like sad bread.

Slopfinger: Is it? Blimey - I thought it were a bear.

Cow: You have no wheat to feed the cow.

Cow: The Dairy Cow chews the wheat without once taking its eyes off you.

Slopfinger: If only I could think of a way to get Manktongue to remember my name...

Slopfinger: Go give da cake to Manktongue.

Slopfinger: I saw the cake go in his lughole! What did he say?

Slopfinger: That cake is ace. Truly ace.

Manktongue: Oi oi, what do we have 'ere?

Manktongue: Oi oi! You got somethin' for ol' Manktongue?

Manktongue: Do you want to put the ingredients inside the stove?

Slopfinger: I've been trying not to maintain eye contact. Been on edge the whole day.

Slopfinger: You know what, I utterly forgot that I'm a cook! Yer a genie-ooze.

Slopfinger: What a ruddy charmer! He even remembered ma name!

Slopfinger: Now, don't look for a moment. I need to apply my sig-nah-ture.

Manktongue: Wait, wot's written on da cake? Does that say Slopfinger? Da goblin in da kitchen?

Manktongue: Da cake is a lie! Hehe.

Manktongue: You close your eyes, jumble the ingredients together, and place them in the stove. Surely this won't work.

Manktongue: You step back from the stove.

Slopfinger: You shall be the assistant's assistant. We will need 4 eggs, 6 lots of wheat and a bucket of milk.

Slopfinger: I feel a growin' pride in the work I do. I cannot fank you enough.

Slopfinger: The spit will show up well on da frostin'. Now hurry, give the cake to Manktongue.

Manktongue: Give ol' Manktongue a moment.

Manktongue: Well, come back over when you've made a new 'un.

Manktongue: ...It worked.

Slopfinger: If you need any 'elp wiv finding any of it, ya know where I am.

Slopfinger: It ain't much, but I want ya to 'ave this. Perhaps, one day, you will find a boss as good as Manktongue.

Slopfinger: I'll be back here with my heart fully in ma mouth.

Slopfinger: I can tell from the way you're walkin' that you've got bakery stuffs for me.

Manktongue: Manktongue pushes some cake into his ear, where it nestles next to the pie.

Slopfinger: It's a talent. It can't be taught.

Manktongue: Ooh, the icin' is drip-droppin' on ma eardrum.

Slopfinger: Next step is to make the cake. You look like ya know yer way 'round a stove. Why don't you have a go?

Manktongue: Tell 'Slopfinger he's earned himself a raise.

Slopfinger: Goodness no! My hands are all wobbly at the thought of Manktongue learnin' ma name.

Manktongue: Nice day fer a walk, innit?

Manktongue: What can ol' Manktongue do for you?

Manktongue: Need help with da in-greedy-yums for the Arrow Grabber?

Manktongue: Oi oi!

Manktongue: Howdy, lankylegs.

Manktongue: It part of ol' Manktongue now.

Manktongue: Well, it's good to see ya again.

Manktongue: To all inventors! Rather than patent or make money from my invention - AVA'S ACCUMULATOR - I have made the decision to make it freely available.

Manktongue: To all inventors! Rather than patent or make money from my invention - AVA'S ACCUMULATOR - I have made the decision to make it freely available.

Pulpknuckle: I like hitting fings, I do.

Undead Chicken: Wait - is that a chicken stuck to a cliff face?

The undead magnetised chicken tries to nibble your neck as you bundle it into your bag.

You would grab the undead magnetised chicken, but you have no space in your inventory.

What an odd-looking bundle of twigs.

The bundle of undead twigs moans as you stash them in your backpack.

You would pick up the bundle of undead twigs, but you have no space in your inventory.

Manktongue: So, full diss-closure: Manktongue got as far as findin' an undead chicken.

Manktongue: Magnetisin' stuff ain't that 'ard.

Manktongue: Advert is vague about undead twigs, right? Manktongue plan to give dat feedback to Ava when he meets her.

Manktongue: Oo, get you.

Manktongue: It comes wiv da territory. I am a pie-in-ear, af'er all.

Manktongue: Look me up on Link Tin.

Manktongue: This invention will offer a chance to recover arrows or bolts that are lost when firing a ranged weapon.

Manktongue: Thing is, Manktongue got da order of opper-ations wrong and axey-dentally magnetised it.

Manktongue: Bring five law runes and an iron bar to Pulpknuckle up da stairs and he'll do it for ya.

Manktongue: Only place Ol' Manktongue as seen dem is in Bloodblight Swamp. Near a tree with glowy orange stuff on it.

Manktongue: Go get all da in-greedy-yums mentioned in da advert, 'an bring them back to me. I'll be takin' a load off.

Manktongue: Components:1 x Undead Chicken, 1 x Magnetised Iron Bar and 1 x Undead Twig Bundle.

Pulpknuckle: Makin' magnets is my special-tea.

Manktongue: Undead chicken is headin' due north. Probby got stuck to somethin' metal. If you head north, I reckon you'll find da chicken in no time.

Manktongue: It's an 'orrible place. You will need to find a tree wiv glowing orange warty bits all over it.

Manktongue: Manktongue's got an opper-toonity for ya. It'll blow yer bronze boots off.

Manktongue: Oi oi! Good to see me ol' bizness partner again!

Manktongue: Happy building, fellow inventors! Ava

Manktongue: Happy building, fellow inventors! Ava

Manktongue: Unless it's been eaten by a Garou, and den you're looking for a magnetised, undead Garou.

Manktongue: Nice, nice. Here's the deal-io. Ol' Manktongue found a message in a bottle. It's an advert-eye-cement from da mainland.

Manktongue: Your loss, stinkum.

Pulpknuckle: For whacky magnet you'll need one iron bar and five law runes.

Manktongue: Manktongue try to make da machine described in da advert-eye-cement, but fings not go to plan.

Manktongue: You have no space in your inventory.

Pulpknuckle: Bish bash bosh. One extra strong magnet.

Manktongue: But now YOU here. And YOU be Manktongue's bizness partner. YOU help Manktongue make da machine.

Manktongue: You deaf or summat? Read da advert-inna-bottle next to me.

Manktongue: Good good. Now we can talk 'bout Ava's Accoo...

Manktongue: Ah, seems you've already read da advert.

Pulpknuckle: You got no space, grotface. Huh-huh, I rhymed.

Pulpknuckle: Trust me. Don't eat it. Ain't worth it.

Manktongue: Have a look at da advert-inna-bottle next to me. Talk to me after, an' we can work out terms.

Manktongue: Step two: profit.

Manktongue: But I fink you will be pleased, none-da-less.

Manktongue: Before ya go, do ya wanna ask ol' Manktongue anyfink?

Manktongue: Go get all da in-greedy-yums mentioned in da advert, 'an bring them back to me. I'll be takin' a load off.

Manktongue: Oi oi, you ain't got room for da Arrow Grabba!

Manktongue: Before ya go, do ya wanna ask ol' Manktongue anyfink?

Manktongue: Come back when you got a single space to carry it.
