Rod spots give the bigger fish and net spots the small ones, each region's water with its own list, so the training is wherever the highest fish you've unlocked bite. Rods go ash, oak, willow, maple, yew; nets coarse, wool, fine, mystic, desert. The Angler's Hat, whose recipe arrives at level 70, is the one piece that changes the skill: a 10% chance that a catch doesn't deplete the spot. Below that, one piece of mage armour for the stamina regeneration delay, Leggings Of Lightness for the weight and the Inspiring Ring of Fishing for +5% XP.

Food and potion stack one of each: Wild Pie, Forager's Sandwich or Sweet Veg Ball for Knowledgable Nourishment (+10%) and a Focused Fishing potion (+15%, Super +30%). Fishing Frenzy enchants a spot so every catch comes up doubled while it lasts; Fishnado pulls up to five fish out of a spot in one cast; Magical Mending repairs rods and nets where you stand and the Personal Chest spell holds 1,980 fish. A fishing barrel at base stores 4,752 raw fish and you can build as many as you like.

One trick for net spots: junk (weeds, stone, rune essence, the odd goblin pack) depletes a spot just as a fish does. Fill your inventory with stacks of junk and small stacks of the fish you want before you start, and every junk catch fails for lack of space while the fish still land, so the spot only wears down on real catches.
