Fuzan
Boss.
About
Fuzan is the dragon of the Umbral Sands and the end of Icthlarin's Little Helper, fought in a fight-cave arena with no shade and a heat meter that keeps climbing. Power level 6 gear gets you through the first time, adamant and red dragonhide or infinity robes make it comfortable. He is immune to poison, bleed and burning, resists fire and is weak to water, so the plan is a crush or ranged weapon, water runes if you cast, and nothing that relies on a status effect. Put a lodestone at the cave entrance before you start.
Two things set this fight apart from the earlier dragons. First, the heat: use the cooling versions of your infusions, drink
Strong Tea for stamina, and keep an eye on the meter between his attacks, because the sun does damage on its own. Second, the fire: a
Super Antifire Potion and the
Dragoncurse Shield together make his dragonfire survivable, and without them the marked-player breath in the later phases is the run ender. Food is
Stuffed Catfish and
Eggs Royale. The
Amulet of Glory is the trinket, with 25% critical damage for every style and five extra defence. The
Obsidian Cape and
Fire Cape are the two capes that aren't interchangeable here.
His own attacks are a backhand claw sweep at close range, stomps that send lava spikes along the ground, a two-handed slam that pools lava around his feet, a breath that crosses the whole arena and a fire rain of four fireballs. Between them the fight runs through eight phases that reshape the floor. He breathes on the ground and flies off; the arena changes, sections of floor go hot and KotHaar thralls come in; killing them brings him down in the centre with a burst of flame, so move out before he lands and dodge the four stomps that follow. Later the hot floor rotates, and the middle is the safe spot until he readies to drop. From the fifth phase he charges through a passage, pins himself to a wall and marks one player for a tracking breath that you dodge several times in a row. The last phases shrink the safe floor to a few rotating sections with thralls on top of them, so slow, deliberate dodges beat fast ones.
The
Adamant Mace with the shield is the steady melee pick, the
Adamant Crossbow the ranged one, and the
Master's Staff for magic. On a second run the
Bow of Elidinis and the
Pharaoh's Sceptre (its special summons a friendly kalphite) make the thrall phases far easier.

Journal
Youngest of Kuldra's brood, Fuzan grew up spoilt and childish. Where other dragons sought strategy, family, or some loftier goal, Fuzan only cared about the next dopamine hit brought on my mindless destruction. We've all known kids like that.
As he grew older, he began to seek experiences in more dangerous places. He picked fights with other dragons. Bullied the monsters roaming the lands. He brought chaos everywhere he went, in the hopes that it might mildly alleviate some of his boredom.
In the heart of a volcano, as he gazed into the purest fires, he found something other than amusement to cling onto.
He found faith.
Faith in a being not of this world: born of celestial fire so bright that it made Fuzan's own mighty flames seem like mere candlelight in comparison. This being spoke through flames. Her words were flickering embers. Her laughter the crackle of flames. Her platitudes swirled in the air, carried aloft by ashes.
She claimed to be a god, and she promised him that Fuzan would burn hotter, shine brighter, and ignite the world under his own light, rather then spend his life in his mother's shadow. It was an offer too enticing to refuse.
Under her tutelage, Fuzan learned to better wield his own flames and the flames of others. He seized control of the gentle KotHaar and he began marking the garou, igniting their souls as kindling and taking their strength for his own.
It is better that he is dead. For everyone's sake.
